Glaucoma
Glaucoma is a chronic eye disease characterized by increased intraocular pressure. Elevated pressure damages the optic nerve, which, over time, leads to vision loss. Glaucoma is often referred to as the "silent thief of sight" because it progresses without symptoms in its early stages.
Key symptoms in advanced stages:
- Eye pain or burning sensation
- Severe headaches
- Blurred vision
- Eye redness
Factors contributing to the development of glaucoma:
- High intraocular pressure
- Age (40+)
- Genetic predisposition
- Nearsightedness
- Eye injuries
Since glaucoma is asymptomatic in its early stages, the only way to detect it early is through regular monitoring of intraocular pressure.
At Mzera Medical Center, we offer computerized glaucoma diagnostics using the latest technologies!
While glaucoma cannot be completely cured, accurate and timely diagnosis can halt its progression and help manage the condition effectively.
